She guides BRCA + patients and their families through proactive cancer management including increased surveillance (MRI starting age 25), prevention (possible Tamoxifen therapy) and/or prophylactic surgery with immediate reconstruction. In addition, she has one of the nation’s most extensive experiences in operating on patients working with highly sophisticated reconstructive surgeons providing her patients’ with the best therapeutic options.

Dr. Kostroff is currently the director of a multidisciplinary breast tumor conference for the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.  She is a member of the New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group, the Association of Women’s Surgeons and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Kostroff serves on the board of Living with Breast Cancer, the Advisory Board of Adelphi University Oncology Support Program, and is noted for her frequent participation in multiple volunteer programs and media presentations.

She has been recognized since 1999 in New York Magazine as “Best Doctor’s in New York”.  She was the recipient of the Long Island’s Top 50 Women in 2002, the Achievers Award, “A New Era in Women’s Health” in 1995 and was featured in Newsday in 1994.

In addition to the above, Dr. Kostroff’s greatest strength is the delivery of excellent clinical care and compassion to her patients.  She emphasizes the importance of continued mammography and early detection of breast cancer.  She exposes her patients to all surgical alternatives and encourages them to take the time to explore the various options.  Most importantly, Dr. Kostroff provides quality and compassionate medical care and promotes the early detection of breast cancer which will lead to better lives for women on Long Island.
